Cocoon is a total enclosure mattress & bumper system for use where there is a potential or real risk of entrapment or self-harm. It is designed to fit all standard beds in the Nexus range - with either timber or metal siderails (product codes 200-90). A deeper version for use with extended siderails is also available, and it will work in harmony with the profiling functions of the bed.
Any standard sized mattress from the Pro-Mat range will fit snugly inside the Cocoon and it is even designed for use with a dynamic mattress, such as the Optima 'no-ripple' air-float system.
To meet current regulations governing emergency evacuation procedures, Cocoon now incorporates lifting / drag handles at each end together with straps to hold a patient securely inside to facilitate speedy & safe evacuation.
The cover has a minimum 50 newton tear strength, is vapour permeable and can be washed at 90 degrees centigrade, dry cleaned and tumble-dried on a low setting. The surface is protected against fungi & bacteria and conforms to fire retardancy BS7175 (CRIBB 5 on CMHR foam).
