On Thursday 18th July 2013, Neuro Intensive Care staff from University Hospital Southampton spent the day at Nexus DMS Ltd, receiving comprehensive Train the Trainer coaching from our qualified Legacy experts, to supplement the on-site training already received. The Southampton team took delivery of two Legacy turning beds in June 2013, following an earlier clinical trial, and this latest round of training equips them fully to begin using the beds.

“It was clear to us that with such a complex, high-tech product, having staff capable of properly training others in its correct usage from day one would be essential.” Said Jei Wheeler, a Critical Care Technician at the Hospital.“Coming away from the Hospital environment was also beneficial, as it allowed for uninterrupted training with no distractions.”

The day consisted of an overarching introduction to the unique features and benefits of Legacy, coupled with detailed practical training covering moving and handling techniques for patients with spinal and neurological trauma injuries. Participants also recognised on the day that the bed’s usability for pregnancy trauma cases would be especially useful, and so additional specific training on this topic was given.

“An excellent day”, said Jei. “All staff were friendly and informative, and looked after us well. All our questions were answered, and we were given real-life examples of the product’s application and usage in a hospital setting.”

“We are now looking forward to using the Legacy turning bed at University Hospital Southampton, and have full confidence that the knowledge gained from this Train the Trainer session will help our teams to maximise the numerous clinical and patient care benefits of the product.”

Two days of hospital-based training are provided to all customers purchasing the Legacy complex care turning bed, and supplementary training is available at request. Further information on Legacy is available here, or for additional details regarding the product or training, you are welcome to make an enquiry through our website or by contacting us directly.
