Talk about red tape……..we received a request today to supply a Pre-Purchase Questionnaire (PPQ) before a customer could order a replacement foam grip for the handle of one of our products!

Heavens above…..a sleeve of foam rubber – and we have to spend time researching and completing answers to numerous questions before we can sell an £8 product!

One of the questions is ‘Will software upgrades be notified?’ – does this refer to the foam or to a computer?!!

“Technology has a large role to play in the future delivery of ‘care closer to home.” So says
Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, who have developed their i-house in West Bromwich to showcase a huge range of the latest cutting edge medical technology, all within one terraced house.

A Nexus Pro-Care bed was chosen for the i-house as an example of how an electronically controlled profiling bed can contribute to the care and well-being of a patient in their own home.

Some of the technology on display can contribute to safety by, for example, preventing sinks from overflowing or automatically shutting off gas valves. Other examples are are pressure or motion sensitive night lights to prevent falls.

The i-house featured in a television documentary over the Christmas period, highlighting how technology will be used increasingly in the future as aids in the care of people in the community.

It is always rewarding for our staff to hear words of praise from our customers – it is good motivation to know that their efforts are appreciated and it confirms to us that exceptional customer service is so important, particularly in the current difficult financial climate. Here are just some of the many comments we have received………

” Thank you for coming to repair my mother’s bed. She was pleased with your quick response and happy with the results”

” I am writing on behalf of the Company and the Engineers for the very thorough and informative course that you arranged for us. I obviously contact staff after a course for feedback and they were all very enthusiastic and have more confidence. Thank you for all the time and effort that you and your staff expended on our behalf.”

” It is not often we come across extra-ordinary people, who restore ones faith in the human spirit, but when we do, it begs that we take the time to show our appreciation. The reason I have sent this letter is to let you know that you have just such a person in your employment and it is important that you know what a valuable asset he is to your organisation. The employee I am referring to is [name withheld to avoid embarrassment!], who has assisted us today with what could have been a potentially unpleasant situation for one of our members. We would very much like to extend our thanks and gratitude to him, he is to be commended.”

“Thanks *****, very efficient service, much appreciated.”

The Legacy Turning Bed has been undergoing even more periods of clinical evaluation, this time at ICU Royal Liverpool Hospital where it has been used in the treatment of early spinal injury patients and in the treatment of an open-book pelvic injury; ICU at Leicester Royal Infirmary and ICU at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge where it has been used in the treatment of thoracic and brain injury patients.

Anecdotal evidence from Legacy clinical evaluations thus far has been nothing short of remarkable.
